Historical Yeshua and His Resurrection, The
Messiah College, Grantham PA
July 5-6, 2023, 1 PM - 5 PM
Dr. Doug Taylor, Instructor
The entirety of this course would focus on the historical Yeshua, how we know He actually lived and walked in first century Judea (and I make a point here that Yeshua did NOT walk in Palestine because Palestine did not yet exist), how we know He died by crucifixion, the disciples’ despair, the disciples having experiences with the risen Yeshua, the transformation of those disciples, multiple attestation of sources and forms, the early proclamation of the risen Yeshua, and Paul. These are the strongest arguments for the risen Messiah. Based on time we can also examine the empty tomb, the Jerusalem Factor (you don’t start a new religion with a dying-and-rising Savior in the same city where you claim He’s risen unless the tomb is really empty), and James.
Doug Taylor, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Theology and Apologetics at Luther Rice College and Seminary and Program Coordinator for the Master of Arts in Apologetics. He is the author of WHY? A Believer’s Introduction to the Faith and Jesus Before Constantine: The Church, Her Beliefs, and Her Apologetics, and has two pending articles to be published in the forthcoming Zondervan Messianic Study Bible. He and his wife Kathryn have two grown daughters and currently live in East Tennessee. When he’s not teaching or writing he really enjoys deer hunting…when the season is right, of course!
