Is the Talmud for Messianic Judaism?
Rabbi Larry Brandt, InstructorA survey of the contents, styles and functions of the Babylonian Talmud, with extensive analysis of appropriate and inappropriate uses of the Talmud and related literature in Messianic Judaism. Because the Talmud and the way of life it represents is often misunderstood and even feared, this class will call upon students to be willing to set aside old prejudices and make a fresh assessment of the Talmud's worth and role in Messianic Judaism based upon first-hand interaction with representative Talmudic text. New Testament passages having a bearing on the questions related to Jewish traditional literature and practices will also be examined.
