History of Jewish Thought on the Nature of God, A

A survey of Jewish philosophical and religious thought on the subject of the nature of God, from the 2nd Temple period, through the Rabbinic period, the Hellenistic period, Islamic period, Middle Ages, Enlightenment, Modern period, through Contemporary (post-modern) thought. Some of the writers we will look at are those of the pseudepigrapha, Philo, Saadia Gaon, Maimonides, Luria, Spinoza, Buber, Kaplan, Heschel. We will also review some post-holocaust Jewish theologies. We will then consider these views in relation to understanding Yeshua’s deity and identity, as presented in the Apostolic Writings, through Jewish eyes.
